How To Save For An American Girl Doll

I have a page I made two years ago on how to save for an American Girl Doll, but, I feel as if it didn't really help that much. I'm re-doing this in an extended, more helpful post.

1. Ask for an allowance.

And when I mean ask, I don't mean beg. Be persistent. If they say no, try again the next day or the following week, but don't ask them over and over again. Try to stick with something simple, like around five dollars a week, or ten dollars a week. Not something crazy and unrealistic like one hundred dollars a week. That's, just, no. . .

2. Try selling some old things.

Have an old computer game or some old dolls? Sell them at a yard-sale or online on a site such as eBay or craigslist. Be careful with how much you are offering, though.

3. Go Online.

Service?

If you are great with programs such as Photoshop, GIMP or PicMOnkey, (etc.) trying selling things such as logos, book covers, or Facebook banners to promote someone's business. You can even try going to a website like DesignCrowd where you can submit a logo for a cash prize.

If you are an amazing artist, you can offer to draw or paint images for people, such as images of their family, children, dogs, house (etc.) Sites like Etsy are great for this.

If you enjoy reading, you can offer a book review service where people pay you to review their novel.

Publish?

If you enjoy writing, try writing and publishing your book. Online services like CreateSpace can help you do this. Or, you can use something such as Kindle Direct Publishing to write a book for the kindle. Their are tons of services that can help you with this.

NOTE : IF YOU ARE UNDER 16, ASK A PARENT FOR HELP WITH THIS AS YOU NEED TO SET UP AN ACCOUNT WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD / BANK INFORMATION. AND REMEMBER: NEVER REVEAL THIS INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET!

4. Try the basics.

Have a lot of dogs in your neighborhood? Try dog-walking. And it's getting hotter so you can get ready to set up a lemonade stand? (If it's winter, try a hot cocoa stand.) You can even try making a shaved ice stand. I did this last summer and I made over one hundred dollars in one day! It's really fun! Try it!

Scope around your house for loose change and save up your birthday and holiday money.

5. Go Online and Sell For American Girl Dolls!

If you like sewing, make outfits for American Girl Dolls and sell them. (Try using prices similar to those on American Girl's Website or slightly cheaper.) Sites like Etsy, again, are great for this. You can also check out Liberty Jane and other sites similar for doll PDFs for sewing patterns.

You can also sell doll furniture, jewelry, shoes, pets, bedding, accessories (like food) and so much more! The possibilities are endless!

6. Make a doll repair store.

Are you good at sewing? Do you know how to customize dolls, like change their wigs or eye color? Try making an American Girl Doll repair shop where people give you their dolls, and you repair them. You have to send them back though but you can always take pictures with them!

You can even do this with stuffed animals!

7. Make a doll blog!

Ask others to affiliate you, you can sponsor other businesses. Be careful when using other doll images though. And sponsor! Set up a FaceBook page for your blog or leave a comment on someone else's blog or YouTube channel (etc.) and kindly ask for them to check out your blog!

Example:

"Hey! I really love your blog / videos! Could you maybe check out my blog / videos! Thank you and it's okay if you don't! c:"

Have any more ideas? Leave a comment!

WARNINGS:

1. Do NOT steal money from others! This can result of you loosing your money!

2. Save and spend wisely. If you want to buy something, consider how far you are from reaching your goal before buying.

3. Keep it safe! Buy a locked money keeper (and don't loose the key!)

4. Don't shove your riches in people's face! If you made over one hundred dollars, etc., don't say, "Hey! I have all this money and YOU DON'T! Mwahahahaha!" It's really rude and cruel and you'll loose friends this way!

Thanks for reading! Be careful! And save for that doll!
